Prioritisation Skills for Care Supervisors

Aim

To introduce practical tools and techniques that enable care supervisors to prioritise tasks effectively, manage time more efficiently, and feel more organised and in control within busy care environments.

The course also supports participants in identifying areas where time and resources could be used more effectively, helping to improve productivity, communication, and service delivery.

 Objectives

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Identify common “time stealers” and workplace distractions that reduce productivity within care settings and explore ways to reduce their impact
  • Develop practical time management skills for scheduling, planning, organising, and prioritising daily responsibilities
  • Understand how to balance competing demands while maintaining safe, effective, and person-centred care
  • Explore techniques for managing workloads, interruptions, emergencies, and changing priorities confidently and professionally
  • Practise recognised time management techniques including effective delegation, problem solving, assertive communication, and negotiating alternative solutions
  • Improve confidence in making decisions, setting priorities, and managing responsibilities effectively as a care supervisor
  • Recognise the importance of planning, communication, and teamwork in improving efficiency and reducing workplace stress
  • Create strategies to improve personal organisation, accountability, and productivity within their supervisory role


Target Audience

This course is designed for Care Supervisors, senior carers, team leaders, and other staff within health and social care settings who want to improve the way they prioritise tasks, manage workloads, and organise their time more effectively.
