Staff Supervision andPerformance Management for Care Managers & Care Supervisors

Aim:

This interactive course is designed to promote a consistent and effective approach to performance management within health and social care settings. The course will support care managers and supervisors in recognising their role in managing staff performance, conduct, accountability, and development to ensure high-quality care delivery.

 Objectives

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Understand how performance management systems can be used effectively to improve the performance, accountability, and development of individuals and care teams
  • Recognise the role of managers and supervisors in supporting staff performance, wellbeing, and professional standards within care settings
  • Know how to set and write SMART performance objectives that align with organisational goals and quality of care standards
  • Develop the skills to provide constructive, supportive, and motivational feedback to care staff
  • Gain confidence in managing difficult conversations relating to performance, conduct, attendance, and capability
  • Hold structured supervision, one-to-one meetings, and performance appraisal discussions effectively and professionally
  • Understand the importance of documentation, consistency, and follow-up in performance management processes
  • Identify strategies to encourage staff engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement within care team

Target Audience

This course is designed for Care Managers, Care Supervisors, team leaders, senior carers, and others responsible for managing staff performance, conduct, supervision, and development within health and social care services.

This training will be delivered with the new NISCC Care in Practice Framework and the RQIA standards regarding staff supervision and appraisal.
