Introduction to Leadership Skills for Care Managers and Supervisors
Aim
To develop an understanding of effective leadership within health and social care settings and build the skills, confidence, and awareness needed to lead teams successfully, inspire staff, and promote high standards of care.
Objectives
By the end of the course participants will:
- Examine the differences between leadership and management within health and social care environments
- Understand a range of leadership theories and leadership styles and how they apply to care settings
- Identify their own preferred leadership style and recognise how it influences team performance and workplace culture
- Assess the impact different leadership styles can have on staff motivation, communication, wellbeing, and quality of care
- Develop an understanding of the qualities and behaviours associated with effective care leadership
- Recognise the importance of emotional intelligence, communication, and professionalism when leading teams
- Explore ways to motivate, support, and develop staff to build positive and high-performing care teams
- Understand the role of leadership in promoting accountability, safeguarding, person-centred care, and continuous improvement
