Introduction to Coaching for Care Managers & Care Supervisors
Aim
To provide an introduction to coaching skills for care managers, supervisors, day care workers and support workers to assist them in coaching individual team members to improve their performance and confidence.
Objectives
By the end of the course participants will have:
- Understood what coaching is, the role of a coach, and how coaching can support staff development and maximise performance within health and social care settings
- Defined coaching and explained how it differs from training, mentoring, supervision, and counselling
- Recognised the benefits of coaching in supporting staff confidence, wellbeing, communication, and professional growth
- Understood the GROW coaching model and be able to apply and adapt it to a range of workplace situations
- Practised a range of coaching techniques including active listening, questioning, feedback, and goal setting
- Developed confidence in holding supportive and constructive coaching conversations with care staff
- Understood how coaching can contribute to improved teamwork, staff retention, motivation, and quality of care delivery
- Recognised the importance of maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accountability within coaching relationships
Target Audience
This course is designed for Care Managers, Care Supervisors, team leaders, senior carers, and others responsible for supporting, supervising, and developing the performance of staff within health and social care settings.
