Effective Delegation for Care Managers & Care Supervisors

Aim

To develop the skills and confidence to use effective delegation as a key leadership tool to support, motivate, and develop care staff while maintaining high standards of care and accountability.

Objectives

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Understand the meaning of effective delegation within health and social care settings and recognise common barriers that prevent managers and supervisors from delegating appropriately
  • Identify the benefits of effective delegation for care teams, service users, and organisational performance
  • Recognise which tasks can be safely and appropriately delegated in line with roles, responsibilities, policies, and competency levels
  • Identify the most suitable team members to delegate tasks to based on skills, experience, confidence, and development needs
  • Practise effective delegation techniques including giving clear instructions, setting expectations, monitoring progress, and providing support
  • Understand the importance of accountability, communication, and follow-up when delegating tasks within care environments
  • Appreciate how reviewing and evaluating delegated tasks can improve staff development, team performance, and quality of care

Target Audience

This course is designed for Care Managers, Care Supervisors, team leaders, senior carers, and others responsible for leading, supervising, and supporting care staff within health and social care settings.
